You should not give up your income security now – requirement of one year as a member
If you fail to pay your membership fee and your membership expires, you will lose the membership and working conditions you have accumulated. To regain access to income support, you will need to meet the conditions again.
The main conditions for access to income support:
- Working condition = you have accumulated 12 months of working condition as a member of the Fund
- Membership condition = you have been a member of the Fund for at least one year.
If you are unemployed, income support is an important supplementary income
As a member, you can receive an earnings-related daily allowance if you become unemployed or are laid off. You can also apply for an adjusted daily allowance if you work part-time. As a member, you can also apply for a mobility allowance, which makes it easier to apply for and receive work from a little further away.
See the table to see how much your daily allowance would be if you were unemployed or laid off. Remember that income support also builds up a pension, unlike basic daily allowance or labour market support, which you can claim from Kela.
