May Day and Ascension Day affect payment dates

In May, two public holidays will affect the payment dates for unemployment benefits: May Day and Ascension Day. Since these are public holidays, they are not banking days, so your unemployment benefits will appear in your account with a slight delay.

A banking day is a day when the bank is open and can process a payment transaction.

In practice, this means that if we send you a payment on Monday, for example, the funds will be in your account within two banking days, i.e., on Wednesday. If we send you a payment on Thursday, the money will not be in your account until Monday, because Saturday and Sunday are not banking days.

Public holidays are also not banking days. See the table to see how the May Day and Ascension Day holidays affect payment dates.
